Application
1. As a prodrug of 5-Flurouridine. A fluorinated pyrimidine nucleoside with cytostatic activity. Clinically used for gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, the remission rate can reach more than 30%
2. As a intermediate for Fluorouracil antitumor drugs

Introduction to uses
1. Fluorouracil-based antitumour agents are precursors to fluorouracil. The enzyme thymidine phosphorylase, which is present in tumour tissue, acts on it to convert it into fluorouracil in the tumour, thus exerting an anti-tumour effect. It has a strong anti-tumour specificity and low toxicity. It is clinically used in gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer, with remission rate up to 30% or more.
2. Pharmaceutical intermediate.
3. It is an antitumour agent, a precursor drug of fluorouracil (5-FU), which is converted into free fluorouracil by the action of pyrimidine nucleoside phosphorylase in tumour tissues, thus inhibiting the biosynthesis of DNA and RNA in tumour cells and showing its antitumour effect. Since the activity of this enzyme is higher in tumour tissues than in normal tissues, the conversion of 5-FU into 5-FU in tumour tissues is rapid and selective for tumours. It is used in the treatment of breast, stomach and rectal cancers and has low toxicity.
