L-citrulline

Short Description:

Citrulline is a α- Amino acid, with the chemical formula of C6H13N3O3, is a by-product generated from ornithine and amino formyl phosphate in the urea cycle, or from arginine catalyzed by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) to No.

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (about 80%) develop an immune response against proteins with citrulline. Although the cause of this reaction mechanism is unknown, the detection of antibodies can help in the diagnosis of this kind of disease.

Description
When citrulline is still an amino acid, because it is not encoded for DNA, it will not be embedded in proteins in protein biosynthesis, but some proteins still contain citrulline. These citrullines are produced by peptide arginine iminase (PAD), which converts arginine to citrulline during melonization. Generally, proteins containing citrulline include human myelin basic protein (MBP), polykeratin microfilament and some histones. For example, cellulose and vimentin can be ammoniated from cell death and tissue inflammation.
